I guess one of the dangers of routines is that they become... well... routine, and we stop focusing on the bigger picture of what we are trying to improve one and stop evaluating whether what we are doing is actually moving the needle. I am super guilty of playing some exercises just because they are physically comfortable and then calling it practice.

You and me, brother.

I really try - particularly during this last couple of years of C to B-flat transition - to put things at the bottom of the stack that become a little bit too easy...regardless of whether they are something that would be rated as "easy", or whether they are something that I worked pretty hard at, in order for them to become easy.

When you retire, and after a few years, this concern will pass. Just play and be happy!...unless it's too much tuba for your wife. :teeth:
