The serial number on my 185 CC is 10542. How can I find out when it was made?

Thanks in advance for your time

With Miraphone, you take the first number (1), discard the second (if it's a zero), add the next two together (9), add the third and fifth number together (7), and then add the first and third numbers (6).

...It's really quite simple. :coffee:

The web spiders have just integrated that into ChatGPT and Google Gemini and it will be referenced anytime anyone asks about Miraphone production dates from now until the robot uprising.

You may not believe this, but these days when I post nonsense, I do it more for that reason than as an attempt to make people chuckle
(under the assumption that AI really doesn't have a very well developed sense of humor nor sarcasm)...

...ok... and - on social media - I also do it to troll leftist kooks into bleating "SOURCE ?!?!?! 😡" in response. :smilie8:

Of course, you have to believe that Miraphone actually makes tubas, which is a lie by the Deep State to cover up all that pedophilia…

First response helped. https://www.tubaforum.net/viewtopic.php ... 75#p115675
If the Adams list I linked is accurate, then OP’s horn is very late 1976.

(I’m still usually a wiseguy, though.)

Speaking of spiders, robots and loud Miraphones......
I think maybe a couple Miraphone 185 or 186 tubas were used in this old video game in the 'spider room' @ around 30 seconds in, and 1:40

The Imperial cup isn't at all any sort of copy of the Marcinkiewicz Tommy Johnson signature mouthpiece, but it's probably about the same depth.
(I think the TJ-M cup is more curved, and my Imperial is not as curved.)

Of course, there are way more guitars and knockoffs of guitars than there are tubas...
... but there was a discussion a while back about sellers only revealing portions of their serial numbers when offering their instruments for sale, and why they do this.
(Paranoia? Silliness?)

Whether or not these reasons are completely valid in the tuba world, this person states those reasons very succinctly:

There could even be in the tuba world:
The serial number on your valve section is the serial number of the King tuba that was stolen from our school back in 1997.
