Below are the tuba shaped items i found. Other supremely bass items in the auction include a bass sax, a contrabass clarinet, and a contrabass bassoon.






Other weird brass stuff are one of them sax shaped trumpets, and a berliner pumpen pocket trumpet. And of course a dentist chair which i am disappointed from my theatrical experiences, does not have a built in slide. And of course a split windshield '64 VW van (only thing to ship from Europe rather than Gardena, CA? Although the auction is in Nashville?) oh, an over-sized pair of scissors which prompted me to check the cast of the big lebowski...

I also feel i am not wise enough on works of Kraftwerk to spout eloquently about their provenance, but well. Sounds pretty cool. I bet i could find someone to do it for me...

PS so technically the one helicon is in the baritone range, and there were too many other baritones listed, but oh well. I like helicons.

Had no idea metal tarogaotos (tarogati?) were a thing, much less desirable enough to inspire counterfeits?

We considered Kraftwerk (Florian and his partner Ralf) as quite special musicians, and made a point to buy advance tickets for their (as far as I know) one performance in the bay area in 1975, they were touring with Autobahn so their popularity stateside had just started to really grow. They were quite the act for a dive bar in berkeley. Very enjoyable, one of the few bonafide krautrock pioneers to make it to SF. I never knew about his extensive interest in wind instruments. Or if I did, I forgot. RiP

(on the tuba interest front, that nice-condition BBflat B&S looks large enough that the kaiser description could well be accurate. I am sorely tempted and the polaroid of student Florian playing it is a pretty special bit of provenance

Tuba auctions still seem on the low side (which is often deceptive with auctions) but i suppose it might be worth considering logistics?

And perhaps not tuba related, but i scrolled off the bottom, and saw the ad for the Jim Henson Company 70th anniversary auction...

Maybe i'll wait until the 75th anniversary and see if anything better comes up?
