I know this might take a while, but does anyone happen to have one?

I wonder if parts from an Olds O-99 (or Reynolds or Conn 4J of the same era) would fit. Others might chime in.

@York-aholic
I am still unable to PM, but if you still have the Olds O-99 3rd valve, could you send me some photos? As long as the valve has compression, I can try it. You can email me at

@Reilly
I'm sorry. I remembered it wrong. The Olds O-99 I have has valves 1 and 2, not 2 and 3 (ie it is missing the 3rd piston, well not really, I have it but it is one of the most destroyed pistons I've ever seen.).
I did try the 1st valve in the 3rd casing, but the ports don't line up. I've found that some manufacturers designed things so that 1 and 3 are the same. Not on the Olds O-99..
Sorry that I remembered it backwards.

Just curious @Reilly, why do you need the piston?

I recently bought the tuba for cheap due to the 3rd piston having no compression, and when you shake it, you hear a metal ball clinking. The piston also seems a hair smaller than the others.

What a bummer. SHould be a good instrument other than that small problem...

Update: I took out the 3 valve and 4v to compare them. I noticed that the 3rd valve had a little plastic thing on the bottom and a rubber pad on top. I saw that the 4th valve was the complete opposite, so I flipped the layout. The 3rd valve now has compression
