I am needing to downsize and lower my playing tessitura. Does anyone own Schiller Elite V euphonium or any of the F or EEb tubas that they could comment on? We could discuss these via email.

I have a Schiller Elite V Nickel Plated euph. I think it is great... but I am not a particularly accomplished euphonium player. I didn't buy it new though.. I acquired it in a trade from a very good player who was using it as a backup while they were having a valve job and silver re-plating done on their Besson. It would take a lot of practice on my part before this horn is holding me back... my daughter actually uses it more than me, she is playing it in a middle school honor band.

If I were going to buy a new euphonium... I would contact @bloke about a John Packer JP274.

I have a Schiller euphonium… the cheapest 3+1 compensating model they offer. I think it is excellent. I believe it to be 99% the same as a Wessex or Mack Brass or many other of a list of made in china horns and made in the same factory, but the cheapest of those offered. Build quality seems plenty good (I briefly had a Big Mouth Brass and didn’t think the build quality was good at all). Case is a nylon over styrofoam zipper thing. I personally would prefer a more delux hard… but also appreciate that a cheap case doesn’t change how good it plays.

I also had the base model 4v compensating Schiller euphonium, had absolutely no issues with it. It's a Yamaha 642 copy I think. I bought it used in 2022 for like $800. Played great for me as a doubler. If I hadn't found a vintage Besson priced similarly I would have kept it.
