Amazing Grace

When I was just starting out on tuba almost 50 years ago, my first teacher put together an arrangement of Amazing Grace for tuba, piano and drums. We performed it at a church in rural northern Michigan. I've maintained a musical relationship with that teacher, William Hayes. For almost 25 years, we've led a ragtime orchestra together. At a recent tribute concert to honor his decades of work, I recreated that early arrangement.
