I had people contact me purporting to be the OP but it was a random scammer pretending. If you leave an email address, that happens sometimes.

I think @dsfinley is legit but someone has been trying to pretend to be them (or other board members) to scam people.

I think this is right. I'm ashamed to say I got scammed. This person knows enough about Tuba equipment to not ask for crazy money. The email they used was Anthony.james1121@proton.me. The PayPal acct was Markessa Cotter

They kept asking me to buy additional related stuff. Eventually they said they sold the item to another friend.

This is my main complaint with the new moderation rules. As a new user, I'm unable to PM anyone until I have passed an undefined amount of time where my posts are getting reviewed and posted. In order to get around this, I have to post my email publicly on the forum and ask that OP emails. This would be fine IF the review period was reasonable. Or if there was a pathway to submit references and expedite turning your account into an approved one (there's not because again, we cannot PM including mods). I hope the mods figure out a solution for this soon.
