That is an old Arnold Jacobs-inspired practice aid. It is not a mic but an air pressure sensor. You hook it up to a combo of some sort of oscilloscope-like device linked to a pressure-sensing device. It is an interesting pedagogical tool.

Probably wouldn't be too hard to plug/braze and bore it out if you have the right equipment.

In the '70's King had a similar device that was a first attempt to put synth or effects on brass instruments.
