FS: Alexander F Tuba with 6 Valves (4+2) - $8,500

For sale is a 1960s Alexander F Tuba with 6 Valves (4+2), converted from 3+3 Vienna setup. Comes with hardware to convert it back to 3+3 if desired and a nice Jakob Winter hard case. 5th valve is a whole step and 6th is a half step. This tuba has a small receiver (smaller than an American shank), and a slightly smaller bore of 18 mm (at least that's what I just measured the inside of the slides to be with some calipers), when compared with a modern Alex 155 (18.5 mm). Bell is 14 1/4". This tuba works great for playing bass tuba parts in orchestra and solo rep and has that classic Alexander sound. Also includes a couple mouthpieces which have fitting shanks. Tuba finish is raw brass, which can be polished up to shine or allowed to patina more over time. There is also a lot of nickel silver in the valve section which can shine up beautifully. It is a bit smaller than the modern Alex F, but it's quite the horn.
