On Facebook, it was reported that the old master, retired Rudi Meinl Sr., has passed away…

Wow, what a shame. He was a man I wanted to meet for years. I met Gerhard Meinl and Peter Hirsbrunner, but never him. Rest in peace, sir.

It gives Herr Meinl’s birthday and some interesting facts about his life.
Despite saying “Jr.” at the top, it’s a typo: the biography is indeed about the elder Meinl.

Played one of his tubas today and am picking up another one next week! There really aren't many of the old masters around anymore.
