So I'm looking to get a used 2 valve bass, I have budgeted out $2000 for it. I don't have a preference if its dependent or independent or valve type, just that it has the tunings in Bb/F/D(/Gb for independent). Its main use would be in jazz gigs. This would be my first real bass since pre-pandemic days in high school, which since I have graduated. I know this is a tuba forum but someone on here may have a bass they would part with. Pm me anything you got. Thanks in advance.

Talk to @bloke about a packer JP333. amazing horns, and they play like a $6000 bass for a third of that.

Thanks for the referral.
A friend (though 200 miles out) has asked me to help them sell their clean Bach (reasonable)...but the JP is much more of a pleasure to play, and - in my experience - requires less microtuning.

If you can find a Benge 290 those are pretty darn good and can usually be found in playable shape for around $2,000.

Although I haven't played the bass trombone, I own two other JP Rath trombones (an alto and a small bore tenor). Both excellent instruments! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another. Have a JP Sterling baritone, which I bought from
@bloke, and it is also a terrific instrument. Excellent tone, plays well in tune, good build quality, and for a fraction of the cost of a Besson.
For a jazz horn, a King Duo Gravis (6B) would also be a solid choice. Also agree on the Benge listed above.

A Duo Gravis would be great. You may have to split the levers and perhaps have a D slide or extension made, so factor that into the price. The Benge would work. There are a couple on the market now but generally I see them pretty infrequently. The lever ergonomics are quite poor, so factor in a possible custom job. A King 7B would be similar and perhaps a better choice. I think any of the Getzen or Yamaha doubles would work well. There is a gig-ready Yamaha 613R on Reverb right now for just under $2000 after tax and shipping. A great horn with modern ergonomics.
