Has anyone played one of these? What were your thoughts?
I'm not particularly looking, just curious, haven't heard as much about them in a while. I may have saw one at a conference a while ago, but don't think I got around to trying it. Is it in that 129X or 2155 size range or bigger or smaller?

Re: 3225 Ursus
Same size basically, but the bows seemed much fatter. A wonderful tuba in how it played and sounded, but the ergonomics were bad for me -- hard to reach the pistons, and the 5th valve linkage was a mile long.
I know.someone who owns one, and he loves it.

Re: 3225 Ursus
I played a VERY warmed-up one, and could only "just" play it up to pitch...The instrument's namesake had played that same instrument (on display at Midwest) a couple of hours earlier.
My mouthpiece in hand was deep, but so are some others'. With a HbII (or something like that) I probably would have had a 1/8" - 1/4" pull for A=440.
Tuning wasn't amazing, but could be dealt with.
Given the choice between the two (and being required to choose one of them), I would choose a 2155 retrofitted with a model 45SL-P piston F tuba mouthpipe.
Everyone has an opinion...Mine could be just as "wrong" as anyone's, yes?
