Happy Tuba Tuesday
This Tuba Tuesday, the Museum features: The Buescher, circa 1910, 3 front action, piston valve Bb euphonium.
The Buescher Band Instrument Company was founded in 1893 in Elkhart, Indiana, by Ferdinand August “Gus” Buescher (1861-1937) after first working for Conn from 1876 until 1893. Buescher was best known for their saxophones but also produced a full line of brass instruments, including alto horns, baritones, euphoniums, both bass and contrabass tubas and sousaphones. The Museum now has over 20 Buescher made instruments in the collection.
This is a beautiful example of an early 20th century front action, piston valve instrument. It is 25 inches high, has an 11 inch bell diameter, and a valve bore of .560 inch.
