There’s a good chance that that horn hasn’t traveled very far from the original point of sale.

I see hints of possible (??) distant-past re-lacquering.

Additionally, if a finish has been that well-preserved for 60 years (along with avoidance of denting), it's likely that the original case would not have had to have been replaced, at some point...

The previous owner's name is Matt Varho in Southern Cal. You can ask him, though doubtful he was the original owner. And I am wondering if that 'store' is consigning the horn for him.

I was only remarking on the notion that when that horn was imported, the importer was in LA, iirc.

I dunno, was the Sun Valley, Ca distributor active in 1958-59'?

They were there in the 1960s. Possibly? This could be new old stock also that was shipped to the USA for distribution. It’s all speculation.

Maybe mid to late 60's, doubt they would sell a 7-8 year old horn as "new" then. It has a bow "fin" as well which is (sometimes or not mostly indicative of) being for distribution in Europe but also is spelled MiraFone.

Both of my Mirafones were “f” and not “ph” horns. Both were from the 1980s. I’m not sure that’s a deciding factor?

I think PHones were later imports in the late 80's or 90's?
