Our principal trombonist has a family event (wedding) out of state that they cannot miss, so - for Schubert's Symphony No. 9, next fall - our bass trombonist is moving up to (1st trombone) E-flat alto trombone, the 2nd trombonist is keeping his seat, and I'll be covering the bass trombone part on F cimbasso.
I feel lucky to get a chance to play some great literature with which - normally/otherwise - I would not be eligible to be included.
...Go check it out on IMSLP...The part is wall-to-wall in four movements.
--------------------------------------
oh yeah...March: Tchaik 4
(I'm thinking the compact nuclear-powered Holton B-flat might just do the trick.)
