Half hour each, including changing seats/swapping out bands? That's going to be a busy day!

That's like 2, at best..songs per group including set up, break down, tuning and such.

It’s a quick schedule, but it’s good to see this happening and a nice chance to hear other groups without a huge time commitment.

Plus, given the hiatus in rehearsing, only having time for one or two pieces to focus on might be a good thing.

I hope the band festival is a huge success. Good to know that events are starting to happen again.

On another note, the idea of a tightly scheduled park band festival reminds me of a very disappointing experience one of my bands had in summer 1993 at a beautiful park in San Mateo CA, just south of San Francisco. Our band was last on the schedule and the sun was about to set. What had been a large audience on the grass began to dwindle. Our final number was met with enthusiastic applause from the remaining twelve (count 'em) people in the audience. The band never signed up for another park festival. Ha.

There will be two stages, each at opposite ends of the venue. The audience sits on the left and right sides, with an open center area. As one band plays, the other stage has the former band leaving and the next band setting up.

Each band has a full time slot, with no time between the bands except for introductions.

This setup worked well two years ago. More or less eight hours of non-stop music.

When I was still a state-certified adjudicator I once judged a district band contest set up the same way - 2 stages, 12 bands, no time between bands, just a 30 min break for lunch. No time for judges to make notes on scores or score sheets, so all 3 judges had cassette recorders, made verbal notes. Was extremely hectic, none of the judges appreciated it, they changed the format the next year. Still, except for judging the bands, it made for a lot of (mostly) good music in a concentrated time frame, and I'm sure it would work in a concert performance.

Two stage venue worked well . . . BUT . . . it was brutally hot and no shade for anyone.

Still, I would do it again.
