5/4 Vintage Conn CC tuba
Some might call this a “Donatelli” or even "Nonatelli" , it is made from...
Vintage Conn CC body cut from a BBb by Tabor Fisher
Vintage Eb Conn bell installed by Shane Pettit.
Conn valve set rebuilt by Martin Wilk and installed by Kevin Gillins at J. Landress Brass
This horn has a huge, dark tone with lots of projection. Good intonation, too.
It is only a 4 valve, but priced it to sell, with room to have a 5th valve added if one chose to do that.
Asking $4295.00.
Open to reasonable offers.

Physically, what modern tuba compares in size (bell, height...)?

I would say that the MW 2155 CC or the Nirschl 5/4 CC tuba is about the closest in size.
20" bell, .740 bore.

Did Matt Walters say a price on adding a 5th?

But not before he tries to talk you out of it.

I am almost 99% sure the conn Eb bell that is on that tuba was from a tuba I sold Shane back in 2013 when I was on leave from Japan. I drove up to New York City and dropped it off to a mutual friend of ours in time square. Yes I walked around time square with a tuba. I got that Eb tuba from my old high school that was just sitting around. The tuba had a great sound but the valves were terrible and the intonation was pretty bad(probably due to the shot valves). I was dumb and sold it to Shane because I didn't know any better and I didn't want to take it with me to Hawaii. Fast forward to 2016, I get stationed in Jacksonville, FL and apprenticed with my friend in Orlando. I could of used that bell for a tuba project. Glad to see the beautiful bell did not end up on as a wall hanger.

Is this one - of two - that you showed me several years ago,
or yet another...??
Both of those two played quite well.

Sort of...this valve set (.740) was on the other Conn CC from 1918 when you played it.
Since then, I had the original .690 valve set, replated and put back on that horn.
The change improved both horns.
This one, (.740) plays very close to the original one, but has a bit of a broader/darker sound.
I think you also played my 4/4 BBb Martin w MAW valves that you liked, as well.
