Conn 36J Body

Post by Kctuba »

Looking for a Conn 36J, preferably just the body, but will obviously look at one with the recording bell. In KC MO….

You might want to look for a 20j body. They seem to be pretty common and (correct me if I'm wrong) have the same branches as a 36j.

Good luck in your search!

Guess should be a little more specific. I want the whole body, just not necessarily the recording bell. I have a 20 inch reproduction bell that I am going to put on it. I was stupid and sold this same set up a few years ago when I had the perfect set up…..

Bort, that is not a 36J. The 36J has a detachable bell. I've owned a grand orchestral and compared it to different 2X and 3XJs, and the branches are VERY similar.

Looks cool. Bad pictures zero feedback seller. Very similar to a common detachable 36J's ...also conn reused product numbers so it could be the 36j was renamed. It's also called orchestra grand. Not grand orchestral.

The body of the 36J (front action, four piston, long action, sousaphone style valve orientation, .773" bore) is the same as the the 20J(the BBb Conn model, not the older Eb 20J that Conn also made prior to what we commonly know a 20J as). If you're only interested in the body and branches, and are going to slap on another valve section from something else, the 20J fits your needs.

But, if you need the valve section, good luck. I haven't seen a 36J in a bit of time, even fewer without the bell.
