One post here before I buy something new...
If anyone has a nice gig bag that will fit a Besson 983, please let me know. Side or top loaders are fine. Nothing made in China, please. No junk

I bought a Wessex bag for my Besson 983. Fits the horn well, and is well made. I know, it's from Wessex's factory out of China.......but I own other Wessex bags that have held up nicely for over 5 years now. Just saying........

I've a Meinl Weston 2040/5 that has the same dimensions as a 983 and it fits a Miraphone 170103 bag like a glove. Good level of protection (for a bag...) and pretty robust....so far....

NOT for your tuba...
(seems to only accommodate a 15" bell)
...but (why I'm linking it) this is one of the FEW 3/4 tuba bags that I've stumbled across (in quite a while), with pretty-good-looking workmanship as well as being closer to price-appropriate for some of the budget 3/4 tubas.

' looks to be a good candidate for Yamaha 103, 104, 105-and-alikes, as well as 621's-and-alikes...

Thanks Rob, still thinking about it... It's going to be either your bag or Superfine. Possibly a Gotz, but I don't like the state of international shipping right now.
All are high quality options, each with their own pros and a few minor cons. If I were more certain about keeping this long term, I'd go all in and get leather.
But I see a gig bag -- of any quality -- as a poor investment if selling a tuba later on. Few people value a deal when hearing about a tuba
plus let me tell you how much this new gig bag is worth on it's own. Conversely a good gig bag is essential, and absolutely worth it when you keep a tuba long term.
Plus, I need a gig bag for tuba #2 as well, so all this together isn't gonna come cheap. :)
