Congratulations to Don for the full-pull-career, and an enormously deserved retirement.

I can only hope that I'm still playing tuba (half as well) and have (half) as much hair as Don when I'm at his age.

As a 40-week season (annualizes to 6 grand a month),
what chance the majority of short list candidates will come from studios at Ithaca & Rochester ?
Or is Buffalo too big a placement to cover regionally, even in these interesting new times ?

I’d wager a pretty solid candidate list shows up, especially since there’s collateral jobs (gigs and lessons) that would bring in a good bit of extra income as well.

It’s damn cold in Buffalo, however.

Those are big shoes to fill. Figuratively and quite literally.

Someone has been appointed, but I don’t know who. They were also in the running for St. Louis as well, iirc.

Heard it was Seth Rawleigh. Derek Fenstermacher was the reportedly other finalist.

Also heard that St. Louis pending (i.e., not necessarily a "no hire" result). One or more players that were in the running at St. Louis were in the mix for the Buffalo job as well.

Will be interesting to see how everything sorts itself out.

Seth Rawleigh was appointed principal tuba in a recent correspondence. From my understanding, he was one of the two in consideration for the St. Louis position.

Side note: I have heard many rumors that St. Louis did not choose a winner (heard this months ago), and the other person in consideration has not posted (he has a playing job in a northern Midwest state west of me and has pictures posted from playing with the group).

I would be on the lookout for SLSO to potentially have another audition, with the last audition being this past February.
