The very old black-and-white TV western weekly series called “Laramie“ featured a regular character who were a derby. I don’t know the name of the character, but Hoagie Carmichael played the character.
The show airs daily around lunchtime on a rabbit ears station called METV.
Others who know more can supply more information.

I saw Hoagie in a movie called Young Man With a Horn(I think) with Kirk Douglas as the young man trumpet player and Hoagie as his chain smoking piano playing friend. I think Doris Day was in it too. Hoagie was also in a Flintstones episode as himself. Ed

He was also in a post World War II movie about three soldiers returning home from the war. There were some major stars in that movie.

Excellent movie. Hoagy was also in the Bogie and Bacall movie "To Have and Have Not". Several other movies as well.

That guitar lick - and the face sticking up above the guitar - sure looked and sounded like Nappy Lamare.
