SMALLER THROAT BACKBORE AVAILABLE FOR SELLMANBERGER IMPERIAL CUP

standard or euro
This is actually an already-existing back-bore. It doesn't bolt up absolutely perfectly flush to an Imperial cup, but there's a slight "under-lap" (vs. an "overlap" - which would not be good). I (and a couple of others) have tested this combo, don't experience a problem, but do experience (desired) slightly more resistance.
This might - yet - allow more of the Imperial cup to further migrate into the "good for a wide F tuba sound" genre of mouthpieces.
yeah...again: This mouthpiece line (other than all of the rim contour and opening choices) is "mostly stuff that Joe Sellmansberger likes".
I like NORMAL-size throats - from "medium-large" to "regular-large".
If you're looking for "blown-out" throat sizes, please look elsewhere.

Have you tried this smaller backbore on your Eb?

Admittedly, I have not, but I tried it on my F tuba.

What is the backbore on a 7B? Which is working the best on my Eb. Wouldn't have thought a contra mpc best for an Eb (and its upper range is a "bit" more difficult, but I like the low range, which is where I am playing, even if the lungs have to breathe a bit more often.)

0 - small throat, medium exit bore
1 - medium-large reverse-taper throat (so the throat appears to be quite large) and medium exit bore
2 - same throat as 1, but large exit bore

What is the "smaller throat"? I'm curious to try something with a smaller throat (or maybe just a smaller backbore?) on my F in hopes of helping the sharp B and Bb (I think there's no hope for the C, which I play with 4th valve) and the flat low F (and E). A TU23 seems better than a few other Miraphone mouthpieces, and it has the smallest throat. I'd try a TU11, but I can't find one.
The current winner, though, is something that says only "Helleberg" without any numbers or maker mark. Its throat looks a little bigger than the TU23; I don't know how to assess the backbore shape and size. So maybe "smaller throat" isn't what I'm looking for. The mouthpiece game is only fun if you have lots of mouthpieces to play it with.

Either that throat spec is a mistype, misquote, mistake, or a swapped number. My Helleberg 120S has only about 8.2-8.3 mm throat, and the 7B's I have played feel no larger in the throat than that.

Dave Werden's chart gives similar figures for both the 7B and 120S. I haven't played either in a while, but I recall the 7B feeling a bit more open than an 120S.
