Walter Schüepp was born on 18.01.1926 in Mettendorf, Switzerland.
He studied General Musik (performance/theory etc) and in 1950 opened in Frauenfeld a dealership for brass instruments (handler not a maker).
He then sold the business in 1956 to H. Haag of Kreuzlingen. Afterwards he worked as a musician and conductor in various groups. He moved in 1989 to Florida USA.
The tuba here looks to have been ordered from one of then many Swiss makers who then used a "modern" body from the 1950s era but an older Gräslitz style valve block, hence the possible "1900" dating.
Have a good weekend everyone,
The Berliner Tuba
