This Tuba Tuesday the Museum features a York, BB flat tuba, 3 piston, c.1911.

Bell size is 22.5” & bore is .750”. Height is 36.75”.

Made By / J.W. York & Sons / Grand Rapids Mich.” on bell. Some floral engraving around identification marks. “Patented / July 12 1910” on placque on tubing.

a thought:
Once everyone from the original generation has moved on, it sure would be good so see quite a few of the more worthy instruments find their ways into the hands of people who might actually play them (and - hopefully - not "cut" them, unless there is extremely strong evidence that doing so would result in something better, and not just "something else". As things stand, they are all sterile.
