Howdy Tuba Brothers & Sisters!
I am searching for a small Cervany CC Piggy Travel style tuba to use for jazz improv solos in front of a big band or orchestra. I'm retired so I am hoping to find an affordable one! Anyone out there know where I might find one? You can also contact me directly at dr.buddy@icloud.com

A Piggy is a specific model. It is by no means a travel tuba, which is the size of a euphonium. (At least the ones I have seen are.)

This is a Piggy. It has a bore over .800" and is about 30+" tall. It is merely wrapped tightly with a small bell diameter. It plays quite big, though.

This is a travel tuba. It is for practicing in hotel rooms and does not make a sound many would want others to hear. (Think: "blat weasel"…)

If you could be a little more specific we could better help you. What you are describing, playing-wise sounds more like one of those Wessex "Tornister" tubas. They come in CC and BBb and I have absolutely no experience with them and have heard very mixed reviews. Here is the CC…

The perfect horn you would think would be the Wessex “Mini Jazz” model, much like the Tornister but with a forward facing larger bell and a “duck leg” on the bell to hep with holding it standing up. If his heart is set on CC though, the Mini Jazz is only available BBb.
