I can't remember the mathmatical/statistical term for things such as this...(??)

Does anyone believe that there will ever become a point whereby those (or their widows/widowers) deciding to rid themselves of their C and F college tubas will exceed the number of new college children's parents seeking to buy those things?
@Rick Denney has a good vocabulary - as well as good recall - and knows the word that I'm failing to pull from the back of my mind. "Rubicon" is certainly not the correct word, and (having consulted with Mr. James F. Durante) neither is "Umbriago".

Looks like a case of Supply exceeding Demand.
My personal favorite is "point of diminishing returns" as that is where I make nearly all my purchasing decisions.

I have not been able to acquire college level C or F tubas for free (or even for handling overhead fees), so we're not there yet.

Threshold is plenty good enough, but not the term I was trying to pull out of the back of my head.
“Inflection point” is perfect, but I believe there is still yet another term that might not have been as perfect as “inflection point”.

What is the proper name for the mental exercise that is represented by college teachers stating openly that they don’t care if their students play B-flat or C tubas, yet quietly tell their students they should get C tubas?

I forget what the literary device is called, but it's similar to things like "you can have any flavor you want, as long as it's vanilla." Which is what I tend to remember as being things that older guys say and think it's funny, but it's really not. Not in the "dad joke" kind of way, but in the actual "that's annoying" kind of way.

I had a student just purchase a nice Miraphone 1291CC. He already has a King 2341, and I told him he was fine on that. He has been mentioning every lesson that he wants to go to a open wrap piston CC. It’s his money, not mine.

yeah...Considering that people are buying those Fiat Chargers, I guess marketing can get people excited enough about just about anything.

How did he know that's what he wanted? Had he tried one? Or is there a constant murmuring somewhere that serious players need that?
