You got my curiosity up...and all of the double-rotor Chinese ones that were c. $700 (pre-January 2020) on eBay are now $1400...

I guess $700 x 1.08 (8% inflation :eyes: ) = $1400.

I have a source for not-as-good-as-JP-Rath bass trombones (some that are Jinbao-ish).

My wholesale cost for the 2-rotor "will do" one is nearly a grand.

still...Someone might sell you a used one for $500...(??)

That's my thought. Certainly not a pressing need, just testing the waters. But I did see these:

That’s a better price than the straight from China eBay prices.
That’s obviously a Benge knockoff.
I’ve always wondered how those play. You should buy that and report back to us.

I bought one of those Benge knock-offs new for $395 from an Idaho dealer about 20 years ago after selling my real Benge 290 bass trombone. The knock-off was labelled E. H. Durand. It was built as well as the real 290 and sounded just as good. I sold the Durand to a Missouri school district for $900. They wrote back and thanked me for providing them with such a high-quality instrument.

Less than stellar buying experience with Laabs. Look elsewhere.

I stopped in there many years ago when they were carrying Milwaukee brand instruments. Salesman said they were "professional quality"...

I have experience with BBB. I’ll say no more.

Just providing an update: instead of buying one of the new King 7B/Benge/whatever knockoffs, a forum member set me up with a nice used Mack Brass Yamaha YBL-830 copy. Honestly fairly impressed with it.

Thanks for all your help!
