I bought that album back in the early 2000s. Sometimes I just need to hear it.

Did you see the 2016(-ish?) movie about her?

I was completely aware of the movie’s release, but chose to not view it. I just don’t go into cities unless I must, and I just don’t contribute any money to the movie industry. (I really wish I felt as though I could do both with a feeling of confidence and with a good conscience.)
I pretty much know the story of that woman, how her recordings were originally financed, and the difference between what she thought she was doing and why people were buying them.

Many of us remember the Three Stooges episode where Shemp was a vocal music teacher, and (avoiding referencing her by name – thus avoiding any chance of a lawsuit) peripheral - yet obvious - reference was made to this.

Mostly… I was greeted this morning with another wonderful recording by one of our young colleagues…and accompanying themselves with their nice clacky valves

I remember the first time I heard her --- sometime in the 20-years-ago time frame, I went to a performance of something with friends. Beforehand, FFJ was being played over the PA system (this was a large venue, and I think what we went to see was a dance thing of some sort.) I turned to my companion and said, "No one is THIS bad; that HAS to be being done on purpose." I still think quite possibly she was having the time of her life making fun of the people who were catering to her thinking she didn't know what she was doing. I say that, of course, from a position of not being tone deaf. My older sister WAS tone deaf (believe that? PPitch and tone deaf in the same genetic line?) and had to be taught to carry a tune, and never was on pitch and couldn't hear it. So, possibly, FFJ didn't know what she was doing, but surely, surely, she would have discerned the un-hidable reactions of people who could tell? We always know when people are laughing at us, and I'd say maybe she was tone deaf but I doubt she was THAT dumb. More likely roaring with laughter inside and playing it for all it was worth.

Oh, and finally I can say I sing better than a famous singer.
