I did about 15 Christmas gigs this season. Most were typical brass quintet with choir, but several churches with deep pockets hire the whole MSO each year to accompany their (large) choruses.

Here is a rehearsal shot I took at one of these "big gigs"…

My wife took this one at a performance…

Here is the MSO BQ, one of the two quintets with which I play…

I took a few here and there, but turned my phone towards other people.

...There were some amazing choirs - particularly at (what's the term used for this - "legacy African-American" or something similar...??) some college choir concerts.

The most annoying/distracting one was when a friend of mine - due to exhaustion - begged out of a big church gig at the last minute, and was replaced by scrounged bass trombonist. The guy looked to be about my age or older, is a specialist in a medical field, bragged and name-dropped a whole bunch about his days at a prestigious music school, kept trying to give me pointers about the music ('Notice that section is 'second time only' "...etc.) and such, and neither could read nor - I suspect - play (if he could have read). Of course, the check cashed, but it's always nice to both be paid and have fun.

On one o' my gigs, a 20 member brass choir also played some of the Canadian Brass quintet carols. This hired-in bass trombonist decided he needed to 'help' me with pedal Fs and such. Not even my dirtiest of dirty looks could dissuade him from making chainsaw noises.

:facepalm2:

Bass trombonists are either the worst or best people and the worst or best musicians...rarely middle of the road.

Very nice! Is that your newly acquired Miraphone 184?

Nope that's the Eb. It is actually a tad taller than the CC, but the CC is wider.

Bottom pic is our regular Tuba-Euphonium ensemble playing at my church. Top pic was taken at an older church as part of a historical tour. We were short a couple of members that day so brought in the local university student brass quintet to help us. One of our euphonium players is also a harpist, so we wrote a couple of arrangements to take advantage of that. It was a pretty unique sound but fit the Christmas theme very well.

I did find one...
...a cropped screen shot from a control booth video.

It's Dr. Micah Everett (Ole Miss), Peter Braswell (photographer/cinematographer/composer), Dr. Jason Beghtol (NEMCC), and yet ANOTHER picture of @Mary Ann in her classic pose. :smilie8:

OK...
Here's one to ABSOLUTELY PROVE that it's Mary Ann... :teeth:
(a tuba player doing what tuba players do best: TACET)
Jason was fascinated with what the keyboard player (she's actually amazing) was doing.
(At that particular moment, she was covering three steel drum parts.)
Her name is Dr. Saundra Bishop, and she works at NWCC in Senatobia, MS.

That’s me on the left slightly less Maryann… we marched one lap of our parade and stopped to play some carols while the parade went around again.

I’m on the right for this one. Small group of us travel a couple of hours to Strahan on the west coast of tassie for their end of year street party. Come to the Southern Hemisphere, blue sky for Xmas.
