Identify this sousa (helicon?) neck

Post by arpthark »

Any idea what this is? No cross-brace, but a reinforced guard wire on the bottom. Was described to me as a neck but it looks like it has a nickel silver receiver, so maybe something for a helicon / not requiring bits...? Fits in a Conn sousaphone receiver. No maker name or number.

Smells like conn.. maybe custom, and maybe custom for an E flat.

If you get your calipers and measure that insertion part diameter, you can check back to the sousaphone neck chart.

My Holton Eb helicon has one that looks like that but it about half that size. Same kind of bracing though.
