I really like their platinum level bags. If they would offer it in more than one size, and keep in in stock, there would be a lot of defections from people who are now buying the $600 to $1000 bags

yes...obviously/certainly...

...but if "over $200" - I just don't believe - would appeal to many people who picked up used 3-valve - 3/4 size B-flat tubas for "a few hundred bucks".

- Some of us own mid-priced tubas.
- Some of us own cheap tubas.
- Some of us own snooty-poot-priced tubas.
- Some of us own some of each.

This'd be perfect for my incoming YFB-621-type thing.

The market is pretty thin for tiny tuba gig bags.

I'd definitely consider it for a lower-cost option for a lower-cost tuba.

It would be even better if Gard did.

Im guessing that there is also a fair number of people who own/play old, small sized tubas that never had cases. Or the cases rotted away. Or have changed hands more times than i have fingers to count....

I have a Gard small mid-suspension tuba bag for sale. It was just a touch too short for my JP377; the bell was about an inch above the zipper, but the lid was deep enough to allow it to close properly. The bottom bow pad had to come out because it lifted the bell too high to fit. The rain cover was discarded (thanks, kitty) and the zipper for the rain cover pouch is jammed. Otherwise, it's in good condition and functional, all the padding and cushions included. It was a nicely protective bag made with good materials.

Price is $165 plus shipping.

I have a gig bag for my 4/4 horn, its way more fancy than i care for. Leather, big thick blocks of padding, large thin pocket for a folder.

I would rather have something that is lightly padded, with a durable covering and simple handle/shoulder strap. Im very careful with it so all the extra, bulky padding is annoying.

Something more basic should be like $150, $175.

Just my point of view.

Bloke’s post is spot on. Could it be he was inspired by my previous discussion looking for a gig bag for my Kanstul 902-3b, or do I flatter myself? But the need for this product is real. Heck, if it was a nice bag, I’d go 300, but not much more. Many of us “old dudes”who are come back players are showing an affinity for 3/4 size horns.

BTW, Gard does make a small tuba bag of the right dimensions, and good price of around 260, bursitis impossible to find anyone who has it in stock. The Pro-tec so-called “small” tuba bag is nothing of the kind, ridiculously big for the size of tuba we’re discussing.

My King sousaphone came with a pro tec bag and it’s actually pretty nice. One to fit a vintage tuba 15 inch bell and 35 inches tall would be wonderful.

$260 to $300...whatever...and so many things DOUBLED in price since around the beginning of 2021. :eyes:

...but $200 (to me) more lines up with the "Hey look guys, I picked up this old Yamaha YBB-103 for only $450" type of person.

I have something coming in a couple months (insert crossed finger emoji here) that this would probably fit.

So whatever happened to Altieri? seems like they've been re-designing their entire product line except euphonium (?) bags for several years now.

I've seen some padded duffel bag type things with zippers offered on eBay and on that site named after a very large river. ($XX)
A few of them seem to be about the size of a 3/4 tuba, but probably would only be appropriate for three quarter tubas that already have a few dents in them.

Millions of people have "canceled" some large corporations, and just as many millions of other people (albeit sans hoopla/fanfare) have "canceled" some other ones.
