Agreed. I saw them live for the first time last spring. It. Was. Awesome.

I go into shock just watching ONE of their YouTube videos...can't imagine an entire concert. Hope you're okay, Mark!
Definitely on my bucket list if they ever get to my area.

I have watched them only on youtube, and, yup, YIKES!!! The first one I saw, one guy was playing smaller and smaller and smaller trumpets, and I was rolling on the floor as well as being beyond impressed.

Looks like the same MW F that he helped design. This one has a removable bell

I saw them play in Chiraq about a decade ago. They played so perfectly loud in their fanfare that I think my brain stopped for a few seconds.
Fun side note- Willy was the only guy I saw walking around watching all the small brass groups before Mnozil went on stage.

You might want to check out the "Supergroup Thomas Gansch".
There are several videos on YouTube.
Definitely NOT Mnozil Brass. But a profound nod towards the cultural roots shared by many of the musicians in our professional ensembles:
Local community (village) bands.
A large part of their repertoire (but not necessarily the same arrangements) will be found in music folders of your generic Austrian Dorfkapelle,
of which the region of Vorarlberg (380.000 inhabitants) has about 125.

I think Thomas just loves to play. Here he is with Leonhard (one of Mnozil's trombonists) and other Austrian players doing "Saints / Giant Steps". One of my favorite videos.

Managed to score front-row seats for them last time they came to Frederick, MD and was completely blown away. If they come to your town, GET THERE.

Check this out. It's a brass trio featuring two of the mnozil guys and some really tasty tuba playing (not willi)

That tuba player is Albert Weider... Who filled in for Willi a little while ago a few years ago.
He and Gansch did that "Tears for Pachelbel" video on YT a while ago, and he also has a video of Molto Perpetuo...
Will post links later, can't do it on my phone for some reason.
He's a monster player.

Thanks for this- I just saw they are playing in Palo Alto tomorrow night. If my wife can get off work, I'd love to try and get there

Being there as a part of an awed, appreciative live audience is an unforgettable, privileged experience. They're incredible!

For some stupid reason (more accurately, the stupidity of having no reason at all), I've ignored all I've heard about them and just not paid attention.
And I was happy.
Then you guys linked videos on a day when I'm bored at work (which, truth to tell, does not happen very often).
My mistake. And the price I have paid for that mistake is that I've probably missed many opportunities to see them in person.
I'm no longer happy, at least about that.
