I thought some of you tuba geeks might like to see some different faces.
The wonderful world of obscure study/etude books!
Most of you have one of these... but I thought I would show the 1936 edition of Blazevich!

The Kietzer Tuba/Helikon Method (for self-teaching!) is still in print from Zimmermann!
Zimmermann makes money by selling old methods for decades...and longer. When I started on trombone my teacher made me buy the Zimmermann book (written by Robert Müller). It looked a bit old-fashioned, even back in the 1970s. Some day I got a closer look at the small print under the preface, it said copyright 1902! Meanwhile I found an original old one for the tenor banjo (1924), which you can also buy new. The banjo book is one of the newest of their range due to not knowing the instrument in Germany before WW1.

When I was going through Otto Maenz during my conservatory studies I was surprised by how something that looks so intimidating can be so playable and can sound surprisingly okay. Lovely etudes.

The Maenz was my junior/senior year of college F tuba etude book. Lots of cool stuff. I'd like to work it up on CC sometime.
