Who knew Schiller would hop on the hype train so quickly. I think they took notice of our recent fixation with this model.

Now I can have it in Nickel Plating.

Interesting. I think this is the first US importer that is selling this model.

You can still order it directly from China for cheaper.

well...maybe nickel plating...(??)

Nickel - being darker in color than silver - offers a darker sound.

That's The Science. Image

If I make it back up to Sheboygan/Manitowoc (??) I might toot on one of those...though "one of those" is the last thing I could think of possibly needing.

Sometimes I wonder if someone in China is writing the copy for Laabs' eBay listings. This one is an "Equisite Quality instrument at Affordable Price"

Ok, I give up; what is that a copy of? I do note it has the wrist-breaking valve alignment.

Yamaha YFB-621 F tuba.

This is what I made a thread about a while ago when I ordered one directly from the good ol' People's Republic. Should arrive tomorrow (??).

Please post pics when it gets here. I don't NEED one, but I want one... and the price is attractive.

As someone who cut their teeth solely on German-style rotary F tubas, I don't really know what to expect, but I had to check it out.

I am 100% certain that it is nickel-plated and not solid nickel silver, which costs twice as much to the builder as sheet brass and is terribly difficlut to work into bells and bows and such. Nickel plating, however, is so simple and cheap that even St. Pete can do it, heh, heh…

Mine arrived today. Not a Schiller, but from China.

Initial assessment is Easy response and slotting. Intonation is good. 5th valve needs a little attention / adjustment. Pistons are smooth, quick, and quiet. 5th valve is a bit sluggish, but is getting better with a little attention. Fit and finish isn’t perfect, but it’s much better than I expected.

I wasn’t under the impression it was full nickel silver. Just nickel plated, like all their other tubas. Nickel silver is a pain to work with.

I could never understand why someone would buy low-priced stuff made in Asia, when they could just as easily buy high-priced stuff made in Asia...

bloke "just being weird, not poking fun any anyone...just poking fun at the situation in general and attitudes in general"

It said "nickel silver" when I commented. Sorry. I must have commented as you were editing. It happens to me all the time.

I don't get it, either. As with most things, "The cheap man pays twice".

What I am intimating is that the expensive stuff made in Asia is starting to ride on its old reputation.
There are countries in Asia other than China.

Some of their stuff that they bring in isn't bad.
I probably would have branded it all Laabenstein.
