ON HOLD LOCAL SCHOOL: Sanders Imperial tall 4/4 four-rotary BB-flat - $800
Posted: Sun May 14, 2023 7:45 pm
OLD
NOT dented up
ugly old worn brown lacquer
Chinese-lookin' linkage
Everything moves.
Centers up on A=440.
This is a student-quality instrument.
Regardless of what claims or alleged claims may have been made in the past, I do NOT believe this to be a European-made instrument.
Valves are quiet enough when oiled, I suppose, and noisy when dry.
3rd rotor air-tightness is nothing to brag home about, but a slight release is detected when a vacuum is pulled with the slide.
Other rotors offer a stronger vacuum release.
Very similar shape/size/etc. to B&S-made Schneider BB-flat:
actually: It's a pretty darn good sounding thing... ' sounds much like what it copies.
as is/where is/local pick-up strongly encouraged (southwest Tennessee)
43 inches tall / 17 inch bell diameter
3/4 inch bore
nickel silver bow caps, nickel silver outside slide tubes, nickel silver bow ferrules, nickel silver receiver brace, nickel silver thumb ring, nickel silver braces
I'm thinking the paddles are probably nickel silver, because - were they plated - I believe the plating would have worn through by now.
I'm NOT going to acid clean it.
It seems to weigh just under 21 pounds.
' accepts a standard shank mouthpiece.
$800
comparable new: https://mackbrass.com/tu200l-4%2F4-bbb-tuba
I would sorta like to keep the (shiny molded plastic) case (with wheels), but will include it (and repair the hinges as well as the one broken wheel) for $200 additional.
pictures and demo on Monday (assuming I can fit in doing that stuff), but it's just as described.
