This looks like so much fun, but also soooo heavy that I'd never play it.

I played one right out of the box and it was a blast. It was a really bad idea to not have that brace be usable as a thumb holder. Balance seemed ok and the slide was surprisingly good. iirc they have a shorter slide (no safe 7th position) and are back heavy. It's a trip having all that tubing on your neck and in your hand, I felt like I was playing an art deco plumbing project.
I've pretty much stopped playing bass trombone due to physical issues but I remember my Kanstul F contra was pretty comfortable to hold, maybe even more so than my bass. It was a little back heavy and had a 6.5 position slide so it just sat on your shoulder.

JC Sherman made a really slick Bb contrabass trombone. Bb horn, F valve, ascending valve to C. You could play the whole Spear motif in the first 2 positions and get a ton of flexibility for slide positions and could do some slick trills and tricks. Low and pedal C and B on a C instrument is also a huge benefit. imo the Yamaha Bb/C trombone could be a slick jazz horn, I'd like to see them more. Or even at all. 😃
