Is that competition date at the tail-end or at the very beginning of the workshop?

(I attempted to answer my question on the site, but failed. I apologize if it's there, yet I didn't see it...and - just fwiw - I won't be competing... )

It will likely happen on Thursday (Feb 1).

If it's on Thursday, Feb 1, then it's the first full day of the conference, assuming the pattern (Wednesday evening to Saturday evening) of past workshops is being preserved.
