mouthpiece for a Cerveny

Post by Cameron »

I'm looking for a mouthpiece to use on my Cerveny E-flat 641. More specifically, I would like it to have a large shank with a deep cup. My efforts with a standard shank plus adaptor have given me disappointing results in the low register. Advice and suggestions are welcome!

Unfortunately, that model is not known for having a very good low register. I've always found them to be thin and unusable. I might suggest instead of going for a larger cup, go for a mouthpiece design for a smaller tuba but with a larger throat. An example would be the Sellmansberger solo mouthpiece with a number 2 shank on it
Yep, I'm Mark

Thanks for the info, Mark. I have 4 standard shank mouthpieces; Yamaha Roger Bobo, DW 3SL, Bach 18, and a no-name. The last two have throats that are larger than the first two, so I'll put more practice time on the Bach and the no-name. All of these will require me to use the adaptor so the shank doesn't completely disappear into the receiver.
