Herco BB tuba mouthpiece -- $20
I have no idea how to price this, so make me an offer. To follow the rules and provide a price, I'll say $1,000 or best offer, and prepare yourself to save well over 90% of the listed price.
Herco BB mouthpiece. Rhodium-plated. If I had to guess, I'd say it's barely been used, and has just seen a few surface bumps/dings from sitting in someone's tuba-stuff drawer.
Tiny ding on the end of the shank, which I've photographed to make it look as bad as possible
Inside of the mouthpiece has some small dots of... tarnish? Pitting? No clue... I can see it, but can't feel it.
Also inside the mouthpiece, there seems to be some spots (bad plating?)... at the point the cup turns into the shank.
I have no idea what happens to Rhodium plating over time, so I don't know if this is normal from environmental exposure, if it is "wear", or if it's poor plating to begin with. Again though, based on the overall condition, I doubt this mouthpiece was used very much, and maybe never used at all.
Also, for a mouthpiece, it's pretty heavy. Seems Bach 18-ish in size, but I didn't measure it.

Re: Herco BB tuba mouthpiece -- make an offer
I had to spend my whole meal allowance on one of those on a college band tour - I had left my mouthpiece at home. UGH. Not sure about that one, but the one I bought still had the lathe marks on it. I threw it in the trash can when I got home. lol It wasn't horrible, I was just mad!

I've heard Brett takes payment in TubeNet scrip and old newspapers, but I could be wrong.Dents Be Gone! wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 1:30 pm So, let’s say someone wants this, how does Mr. Bort want to be remunerated?

The Rhodium plating is worth the asking price alone! For those unfamiliar, I played one for a while years ago. From recollection, it is similar to a Bach 18.

Re: Herco BB tuba mouthpiece -- $35
Probably true, but there's no way to recover the Rhodium from a plated object. Rhodium is currently about twice the cost of gold per ounce (approx $4k vs $2k... vs $24for silver!)
This is a unique piece of bling that flies under the radar, even among we tuba players who fly under the radar all the time already.
