@Three Valves
You seem interested in these program sheets (listing all the pieces for the next pops).
The October/Halloween theme is sorta worn out, so...
Last year, the October pops was sports-related music.
This year, it's all cowboy/western related.
guest artist (country singer) https://brandonlay.com/about/
The "Jackson" tune is the John Cash/June Carter one.
These shows are way less pressure, because there's not any counting hundreds of measures (lots of playing) and any fast licks sorta play themselves (ie. idiomatic). Also...(ex.) if Mahler - and someone screws up during a rehearsal - the m.d. sorta feels an obligation to feign concern, whereas - if its one of these tunes - everyone can laugh about it and move on.
btw...I stay in the finished attic of this old mansion - owned by an orchestra patron.
It's within a few blocks of all of the venues where we play, and across the railroad tracks from the cheapest gas and the best gas-station food in town. (last time: $3.09...a terribly-high price, but the best-of-the-worst)
(Two of the bone players stay on the second floor.)
The orchestra will put me up in a really nice hotel, but - every d@mn time I've tried one of the hotels - I've ended up with (either bad or - at least - annoying) cooties...even when I bring my own bedding, and toss theirs in the corner of the room. (Hotels are just plain nasty. )
