Back when I was a True Tuba Geek, bright-eyed and knowing basically nothing, I began saving interesting photos from TubeNet onto a portable hard drive.

I just found that hard drive, and it surprisingly still works, and all the saved photos are still there. I will be posting a bunch of those photos of Tubas of Yore in case anybody happens to be interested. Maybe you will see your old (or current) instrument.

How much are you going to charge us to avoid posting incriminating photographs?

I have an old hard drive that's probably a little bit older than that, I should probably hook it up and see what's on it.

Only problem is that that used the regular size USB port, and my computer these days only has the USB-C. So, I guess I need to get a dongle to fix that and see what's on it.

Fully admitting my high school humor of laughing at the word "dongle" every time.

A two-piece blokepiece and a set of Sellmansberger finger buttons. (that's about the right vintage for those items, right?)

I still use and have those synthetic felt washer things (though I stick regular felts on school instruments), but it's too much trouble to mail them to people, and individual tubas of even the same model vary too much. The time involved - from talking to someone on the front end to dropping a set of those things in the mailbox on the back end - is more cost in time than what I can reasonably charge for those things.

I don't know if Mr. Baer is still selling his combinations of metal spacers and O-rings, but based on the time that I had to spend - and considering what I've paid him for private instruction (ie. the going rate for his time), what he was charging a long time ago was reasonable, but I just don't want to charge that much.

I could, but I'd probably rather talk to that guy standing behind you about buying two mouthpieces or a tuba, or maybe dashing over next door to get one of those delicious hamburgers. I make a point of not bringing any tools with me when I display. (Yes I realize that I could be sitting spending 10 or 15 minutes doing a washer swap out - with people waiting to talk to me - without having more than a couple of tools, but) trying to fix everything with pliers, a screwdriver, and a dent hammer is what a whole bunch of band directors try to coax me into doing on site, and I'll leave that type of improvising for others.

This thread is getting hijacked, and I need to stop posting in it - as my original post was nothing more than a joke, but if someone snail mails me a check and asks for synthetic combo washers for under the button which measure a total of X thousandths or X mms, and four combo washers for under the cap that measure something specific, I could handle that, but it's all the figuring out what someone needs and all that - even though packing them up is actually a time consuming pain in the butt, and takes more time than putting them on an instrument.

(' always better to use someone else's no-charge space to host, rather than one's own paid-for space, and - by the time imgur decides to hijack the pics - those of us who might have found them interesting will - likely - mostly be dead. )
