FT: B&S 3100/PT9 (Gold Brass) for Piston F Tuba

Post by Isaiah_Buzdygon »

I’m looking to trade my Gold Brass B&S PT-9 (4+2) F Tuba. This is a great example of a B&S Rotor F Tuba, and has been my favorite B&S F Tuba that I have tried. I just recently played Bydlo with the Dayton Philharmonic and I had a great experience with this horn in the orchestra. It’s also been great with my solo repertoire and brass quintet repertoire.

It’s my understanding that the PT8/PT9 models have the graduated “Symphonie” Bore. I’ve played multiple PT10/12 and PT15/16 models. Compared to the horns I have personally tried, my PT-9 has the best low register of any and a singing high register as well. The addition of the 6th valve adds several more options for alternate fingerings and I have never felt the need to pull slides. I’d be happy to answer any other questions about this horn to the best of my ability.

I am looking to trade for a Yamaha 822 F Tuba. I will listen to offers for other Piston F Tubas, but am really wanting an 822.

I am located in Cincinnati, OH.

The photos are in HEIC format, which is Apple's compression container. Not everyone outside the Apple world will be able to see them without downloading them and going through quite a lot of fiddling. You might consider converting them to JPG and uploading them again. Yes, I know it's a hassle--one that I've also faced with my iphones so that my colleagues can view the pictures I make.

Good Drive shows partial thumbnails, but won't show the preview directly.

You might consider just uploading an overall view directly to the forum, after converting it to JPG.

By the way, I own a similar tuba and this model is the closest one can get to the old Symphonie model. Do you know the age of this instrument?

My lower teens version Android phone shows all the thumbnails and opens all of them up to full size on my phone screen.
