$750 shipping. I guess they learned a lesson along the way. Too tall likely to fit in a Uhaul Grand Wardrobe box that worked fine for the 184.

It's not too tall for a grand wardrobe box. The bell is a little bigger than a 184's, but still fits in the box. It's pretty tight to be able to fit two layers of packing in there, though.

When I shipped my 188 down to Texas, that's how I did it.
Yes, it's a little tight, but no issues.

It was about $350 to ship the 184 via UPS and it arrived unscathed, both times. I even re-used the box.

This tuba plays very nicely. Somebody should be happy with it. The damage makes me sad. As I said before, I detest bell damage.
However, it’s a nice player. It’s also located a stone’s throw away from my house. If I had more disposable income it’d be mine.

stone’s throw
Is that how it got that dent in the bottom bow? Quit throwing rocks at tubas!

Those are very good, but the old sheet metal ones from the early '80s that were made of yellow brass were the best ones,
in my view .
These days, that's a good price, it looks like they've adjusted their pricing for the damage.

I have a service that I offer to brass players which involves tying a nylon cable to their instrument and swinging it around in a circle really fast, whereby the centrifugal force aligns all of the molecules in the instrument. They all play better and the valves and slides work better after I do that. By the way, I require everyone who gets this molecular treatment to first have me chemical clean their instrument, touch up their slide alignment, and replace corks and felts.

make sure the nylon cable has been treated and aligned as well, otherwise it's just a waste of time.

That is a good price & that damage sure wouldn’t bother me. Never heard of Mountain Man Music Shop. Arlington Hts is where the old Brass Wind was with Wayne Tanabe - they did great work until Yamaha lured Wayne away to NYC. Easy drive for me - must resist temptation.
I’m thinking you mean “Brass Bow.” They did do great work.
yes - Brass Bow - although the “Bow” side of it didn’t seem to stay in operation very long.
I mean, once you unwrap it...

... I have played this tuba a bit the last few days.....
I am not buying it, but not due to the condition or how it plays, just that my playing has drifted so that this is not the best option for me...
I think it plays quite well, and is a typical example of the modern version of these. Great pitch, even response etc....
I think the seller may be open to offers.
Also if shipping is needed I have great luck with
www.uship.com
One provider even put 3 feet of bubble wrap around a tuba!

I would love to see this!
