It appears that this is York #16.

Maybe the "gl" model?

The valves are toast on this instrument. I asked the seller to send me some pics and there doesn’t appear to be a spot of plating left.

For $300 it wasn’t worth it to me.

Can you post the pic or shoot me a PM? Some early (student model?) Holtons had valves that were copper plated (maybe just straight up made of copper?) and tend to look "shot" no matter what. Not sure if the York helicons ever did this, but I'd like to play this one and see!

The seller also had a Pan-American helicon; did you manage to see/play that one?

I own two helicons, one having been free and the other costing slightly more than free, so your price assessment may be accurate regardless.

Yeah. Let me find it.

The Pan-Am was in much better shape overall, but was missing neck/bits/receiver. But the valves weren’t totally F’d.

Me thinks that’s a pretty early one.

I actually saw these on Reddit first. They were a dumpster diving find.

Why don't the dumpsters around here have helicons in them?

They do, I've just already gone through them before you get there...

Who wants to recycle cracked notes!?
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?

Don't know... Could be cool in Techno. Certainly sampling isn't out of place.
