Happy Tuba Tuesday. The Museum features a Conn, Standard 2J, E flat tuba, 3 piston, 1926.
Serial #: 236548
Bell Diameter 16”, Bore Size .625, Height31.5”.
Comments:
“MADE BY / C.G. Conn Ltd. / ELKHART, IND. / U.S.A.” on bell.

I have one of this little 5/8-inch bore cuties with (far less common) four (Secrist-rebuilt) valves.
I've taken my time (untold years) shortening it to F.
I even have a cute little Jakob Winter case for it (which originally housed one of those tiny little 13-inch bell Besson/B&H student B-flat tubas).
To be clear, this is an unfinished project.
Here's the thing:
Mine has the 14 inch bell (as seen on the Conn Loyalist website), but all pictures of others (such as this on in Carolina) feature a larger diameter bell - as is found on the similar-yet-different "Pan American" version of the same size instrument. (I believe I prefer the 14 inch bell, fwiw.)

If I ever get back to it. I can take pictures of crap that I've done to it, but it's all a part. It's Dent free and shortened to F, but in pieces.
I sort of thought it could be a crossover instrument. Maybe Mendelssohn, French tuba, weird-range bottom parts in quintets like Dahl, etc...
