Wtb silver 4 valve sousaphone $3500ish ish

Post by EmptyCase »

Title pretty much sums it up, would consider Conn, King, Martin, or the likes. My budget is looking like around $3500 total as of now, and mabey around $4500 once I sell off a couple more horns. Would love a jumbo and would even be open to 3 valves if that opportunity were the case but yeah. I could also do a cash+horn trade deal if someone is close enough. I’d be willing to give up my 1891 conn Eb and/or mabey my 1922 conn monster Eb(less likely) and/or a Holton Bb Sousa I may be getting soon. I also have the body and valve block for a panamerican Bb Sousa to offer

If you want pictures of any of the horns I have to offer pm me. I’m located in south Louisiana near Ascension parish

Please pm me rather than email

I kinda assume Jupiter isn't what you are looking for, but at least for your consideration if it might be...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/126359909001

It is also hard to tell for certain if it is extra shiny lacquer or silver in a yellow light (daylight?) I kinda think the former, so my apologies for getting it wrong on two points. But it odes have a 4th valve, and it might come in under budget, if competition isn't too stiff.

So i figure it won't to mention it.

More promising (i think) may be MartinMan's thread, if his wants get met.

Saw this ad over the weekend, not my horn. Over your asking price, but says you can make an offer.

I believe this horn is also listed on Facebook by the same seller for $3500.

It is fairly local to me (Enfield, CT) so let me know if you'd like me to go check it out for you, @EmptyCase.

I don't know what the going rate for these horns are, but I've noticed the "make an offer" on these sites tends to be a bait-and-switch these days, and most sellers don't really allow you to make an offer far off from their asking price. Like if this was on eBay, I'd totally expect this guy to have the site automatically decline any offer less than $4400. I don't know Reverb that well, though, because gear is usually priced much higher, so I rarely bother.

I might be wrong, but it's just been my experience on eBay in the last few years. It's just as infuriating as those auctions that start at $1 with a high reserve.

1984 Conn 12J
1990s Kanstul 900-4B BBb
1924 Holton 122 Sousa
1972 Holton B300 Euph
If you see a Willson 2900, serial W2177, it's been missing for a long time. Help me bring it home.

Not sure if you saw my PM, but I have a horn I'm considering putting on the market that fits your criteria and budget. Pictures and more info on this thread:
