I like 'em too. I got to spend a few days at the ZO plant last summer. Lots of interesting things going on there!

I hear that they play pretty well (and almost no reports on any tubas ever include tuning checks, but whatever).

I would wonder about versions whereby the bells remain more contrabass trombone-sized (rather than euphonium-sized or euphonium-plus sized), whereby (even though the bell points in the wrong direction (which - in my view - WOULD be an issue) they could offer players a more compact (so-called) "cimbasso".

Curiosities and "hey, look at this-es" don't interest me much (me: not a collector, and little more than a lowly blue-collar music street-worker), but things that are viable (for reasonably regular commercial use, etc.) do tend to catch my attention.

Here ya go: larger bell, forward facing. Just tell folks it's a cimbasso. :teeth: (another ZO procuct)

That's pretty cool - as long as my big ol' haid fits in that hole...

...but (again) a narrower - more 'bone-sounding - bell

again: cool

You're getting me more interested in pushing to complete my BASS TROMBONE (9-feet / B-flat) cimbasso.

Yeah, this is the aspect of these that I have found interesting. Might be interested in trying out one of these in F. I just sold my 3/4 Mack, and I'm not suffering from tuba withdrawl yet, but you never know when that might set in.

Fortunately I also got a rare 83h bass bone, and it plays well. Tubas in the past have been a way for me to escape bass bone, but I may not need that anymore. I'll just start complaining about shipping tubas...

Back on topic, I've seen the Youtube of the guy playing dixieland on one of these, but that's all I've really heard. Anyone want to send me one so I can play it?

They're usually at TMEA.

Do they sorta sound like a bass sax, or more like a euphonium?

They're surprisingly tuba-ish; especially compared to every other brand of travel tuba.

I agree. I've said for years they look like a hot mess, but play well

@Schlepporello owns one

I have a CC and an F at my store. The F plays well enough. Intonation in the high range is terrible but from my point of view if you just want something small that will fit in your car seat so that you can noodle around a bit when youre bored its fine. The CC is terrible. We did have a silver CC at one point that was a lot better though. Main issue for me is that i am too tall to hold them comfortably.
