M-W adjustable thumb ring

Hi all,

Trying my luck here before I go down the rabbit hole of having something fabricated.

Does anyone, particularly owners of M-W 3450, 5450, or 6450 tubas, have an adjustable thumb ring for sale? The whole thing. Not just the ring, but the bracket/braces as well.

Maybe you’ve taken it off of your tuba and shoved it into a drawer?

I’ll buy it from you if you’ve got one. The style I’m looking for is at the bottom of the linked spare parts page from Buffet. Page 22.

Thanks for any offers or leads.

Did you try calling Matt at Dillon’s?

I sent Matt a note. Thanks for the suggestion!

I shouldn't speak for others, but - typically - repair shops don't particularly care to be viewed as parts suppliers.

I believe (others can name it and probably link right to the ring you desire) there's a European website that offers those for sale.

My thought was that Matt might have one laying around from a repair or modification not that he’d be the middleman for a replacement part.

That was my initial thought as well; Regardless, he’s knowledgeable and will be able to point me to the right place.

If the European manufacturer you mentioned is Voigt, I’ve come across their website, but I can’t see any of their products. Maybe I’ve just missed it, but their “thumb ring” page is empty and just points me to a catalog that I’d need to order.

Thanks Chris,

Now I’m just looking for the ring itself. Anyone got one of those lying around?

@UncleBeer has some thumb rings at his place, he's out of the country right now as far as I know but send him a message here or on Facebook and maybe he can help you out

FINGERS CROSSED, I am able to purchase a ring from Voigt. I spoke with Martin directly and he is willing to send one to me.

So, this ring will go on my other tuba, and the one I scrounged together from here will go on my Holton.

Voigt ring paid for and they tell me will ship tomorrow.

For those curious, Shipping was another $45.

I “think” I have a Holton 340 thumb ring if you need it. No promise but I think so.

My Holton has a thumb ring, thankfully, or I’d take you up on that. I just don’t like its location or angle. I have a Willson ring around here that I think will work well for the Holton.

Gotcha. Very good then.
