It is indeed nice to hear it in action - thanks so much for sharing this link!

Two things, however - a question, and a clarification:

1. Looking at this horn, is it really a subcontrabass tuba in C? That would require 32 feet of main tubing, and I don't see that.

2. Regardless, it is definitely not "the largest tuba in the world," as it suggested in the video - there are at least a couple of extant subcontrabass tubas that are larger than this one. You are correct, it's a contrabass CC like any standard CC tuba however the bell and bows are "extra wide". It was simply misleading marketing from Sandner around 1900.

The journalist and film crew certainly didn't do their due dilligence, and I'll forward your article to them.
