I've got a junked 186 here and I was trying to get the receiver off. Is it essentially just a sleeve over the leadpipe? If so, what's the easiest way to remove it?

With many makes of rotary tubas, and certainly most that were made decades and scores of years ago, the tube itself is flared to receive a mouthpiece, and the piece that you see is simply an over part.

That's what I thought I was seeing. Thank you. So removing it and adding it to my "stash" of receivers isn't really all that viable? I tried (unsuccessfully) for a bit last night to try and get it off before I took a closer look and saw that it looked to be simply over the leadpipe.

Thanks, @bloke!
